How to Write a Lesson Plan

This is the format I followed for my lesson plans. Your organization may require something different of you, but I found it useful to include these three key items.

Objectives: Every activity the students participate in should have an articulable purpose, otherwise why bother? Including it in the lesson plan helps keep it centered in your mind as you go through the day's activities.

Materials: Listing the materials you need for a day's class will help you stay focused and organized. Include items you might find obvious--  it never hurts.

Agenda:

Breakdown the day's activities. Remember to put an estimated time for each activity--it's okay if you stray from it, but having the minutes written down will help you think on your feet when deciding if there really is time left for that last activity. Include any notes for yourself.
